To get the very best from your candle and ensure it burns safely, please follow these care instructions:

• Before inserting your refill, ensure your Jesmonite candle jar is completely clean, dry and free from any leftover wax or debris.
• Always allow the wax to melt all the way to the edges of the jar during the first burn. This helps prevent tunnelling and encourages an even burn throughout the life of the candle.
• Trim the wick to approximately 5mm before every burn to reduce soot, promote a steady flame and extend the life of your candle.
• Burn your candle for no more than 2 to 3 hours at a time. Allow it to cool completely before relighting.
• Always place your candle on a stable, level, heat-resistant surface away from draughts, direct sunlight and heat sources.
• Never leave a burning candle unattended or within reach of children or pets.
• Keep the wax pool free from matches, wick trimmings and other debris.
• Do not move the candle while the wax is melted or the container is hot.
• Stop burning your candle when approximately 10mm of wax remains at the bottom of the refill. This helps protect your Jesmonite vessel from excessive heat and prolongs its lifespan.
• As Jesmonite is a handcrafted material, slight variations in colour and texture are part of its unique character. While durable and heat resistant, it should always be used with one of our candle refills and cared for according to the instructions above. Sometimes, specially in our lighter jars, some staining may occur inside the jar from the fragrance oils in the candles. This will not affect the performance of the jar (and we think adds to the character, showing it’s been loved and used again and again!) 

Once your candle has been enjoyed, remove any residual leftover wax. Clean your Jesmonite jar with warm soapy water (no harsh abrasives!) and simply pop in another refill to continue enjoying your jar time and time again!
